Role Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and technically proficient Customer Solutions Network Engineer with a strong background in Enterprise Networking and Network Architecture to support the sale of our DICES communication systems to government and commercial customers.

Based in Santa Maria, CA, this critical, results-driven role acts as the bridge between customer mission requirements and our advanced network infrastructure solutions. The ideal candidate will leverage deep technical knowledge in routing, switching, firewalls, and network integration to identify customer pain points, architect complex solutions, and drive new business. This position requires close collaboration with our Network Engineering and Solution Architecture teams to ensure all proposed systems are robust, scalable, and meet mission-critical performance standards.

Key Network and Technical Responsibilities

  • Serve as first point of contact on the DICES communication platform, focusing on its integration points, network protocols, and infrastructure components (e.g., L2/L3 technologies, IPsec, QoS).
  • Translate complex customer requirements (especially those related to network throughput, security, resilience, and remote access) into specific, tailored DICES system architectures and solution recommendations.
  • Design and present technical network solutions that include detailed diagrams, performance specifications, and deployment strategies for routing, switching, and secure tunnel/VPN integration.
  • Prepare and deliver compelling product demonstrations and technical deep-dives, specifically showcasing network configuration, management, and troubleshooting within the DICES environment.
  • Collaborate extensively with internal Network Engineering, System Integration, and Program Management teams to validate solution designs and ensure successful implementation hand-off.
  • Travel up to 25% to customer sites for detailed system evaluations, network architecture discussions, product demonstrations, and technical relationship development.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Network Engineering, or a related technical field is preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in a technical role such as Network Engineer, Solutions Architect, or Technical Sales Engineer, preferably supporting defense or mission-critical communication infrastructure.
  • Strong, verifiable understanding of core networking principles:
    • IP routing protocols (e.g., OSPF, BGP) and switching technologies (VLANs, Spanning Tree).
    • Network security fundamentals, including firewall concepts, VPN tunneling (IPsec), and access control lists (ACLs).
    • Quality of Service (QoS) implementation and traffic shaping for voice/video/data prioritization.
  • Proven ability to clearly communicate, present, and document complex technical network concepts to both technical and executive audiences.
  • Certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, JNCIA, or equivalent are highly desirable.
